WACO (October 1, 2013)—A man who pulled his car over at an East Waco park to send a text message later reported he had been shot while sitting in his vehicle.
The victim, who was not named, waited about 90 minutes before going to a local hospital to have his wound attended to, said Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton.
Swanton said the victim had a friend drive him to a hospital where emergency room staff notified police of the incident.
The victim was shot in the left forearm and his wound was not considered life-threatening, Swanton said.
Officers who investigated the shooting said the victim told them he had pulled over at the park to send a text and while he was sitting in his car, a man walked up to the passenger window and fired a shot that struck him in the arm.
The victim described the gunman as a white man with a scruffy appearance, wearing a grey T-shirt and a hood.
Swanton said detectives were investigating the shooting Tuesday morning but had not identified a suspect.
