KILLEEN (October 3, 2013)—Two people were arrested Wednesday after Killeen police completed an investigation into an illegal gambling operation.

Killeen police Lt. Frank Plowick said North Precinct Special Investigation Division officers on Wednesday arrested Sagar Khatri, 27, and Clara Guzman, both of Killeen after citizens reported they believed two businesses in Killeen were operating illegal gambling games.

Police served warrants at 4201 E. Rancier Suite 109 and suite 111, locations operated by The Booze Liquor Store and Gateway Food Mart.

Undercover Officers investigating the complaints were able to confirm illegal gambling machines were operating in the businesses and both businesses were profiting from the illegal activity, a news release issued by Plowick said.

Gambling devices and $37,000 dollars were seized as a result of the search warrants, Plowick said.

Guzman was listed on the Bell County Jail log as being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond, charged with keeping a gambling place.

Khatri had posted a $5,000 bond and been released on the same charge.

Plowick said police expect to make still more arrests in connection with this incident.
