(September 5, 2012)--The Better Business Bureau is warning the public about Leander-based websites Hollywood Framed and Art Heist.
Consumers say they have bought art and frames from the two websites but either never received their orders, received the wrong product or received a product far inferior to the one advertised online.
Williamson County records show the websites to be registered to George Prichard of Cedar Park and share the same address of 1309 Leander Drive, Suite 103.
According to the BBB, a BBB investigator visited the address and found a warehouse unit with no identification and no employees present to determine ownership.
The BBB says they have received complaints that the companies have not responded to many of the customers' efforts to contact them.
One Texas customer who spent more than $150 on a print with frame from Art Heist says after sending five e-mails, she eventually received a response stating that the bank had taken the money and that a dispute should be filed with the bank.
The Better Business Bureau advises that customers first research the company, confirm that contact information is valid, pay with a credit card to dispute the charges if needed, review shipping and refund policies and keep all documentation of the order.
