BELLMEAD (May 2, 2013)--A teenager was indicted Wednesday in connection with a December robbery at the Bellmead Walmart store.

Brandon L. Austin, 18, of Bellmead, was booked into the McLennan County Jail on Dec. 5, 2012, but later posted a $20,000 bond and was released, jail records show.

The indictment stems from an incident that started with the theft of a set of headphones from the electronics department of the store.

Police said a security guard who confronted the man suspected of taking the merchandise was pushed to the floor and assaulted.

The suspected shoplifter ran, but officers found him a few minutes later about four blocks away and arrested him, police said.

The security guard was not badly injured.

Another Bellmead man was indicted Wednesday for methamphetamine possession and in connection with a robbery during which a knife was used.

Gerald Wayne Harvey, 41, was arrested Feb. 28 after a man stole a car and other valuables from another man with whom he was riding.

Harvey was arrested at a house in the 400 block of Campground Road in Bellmead where they also found a small amount of methamphetamine during the arrest, police said.

Police said they found another stolen vehicle at the residence where Harvey was arrested.

The victim told officers he was giving another man a ride when he stopped near the Bush's Chicken, at Loop 340 and U.S. Highway 84.

When the driver stopped, the passenger pulled a knife and demanded the victim's wallet, cash, cellular telephone and his car.

The victim got out as the man drove the car away.

No one was hurt.
