BELLMEAD (July 14, 2014) A Bellmead-area man was held Monday in the McLennan County Jail charged with aggravated robbery in connection with an early July hold up at a Dollar General store.
Howard Eugene Davis, 50, was ordered held on a $250,000 bond charged with aggravated robbery, online McLennan County Jail records showed.
Davis was arrested on a warrant issued to Bellmead police after an investigation into an aggravated robbery on July 6 at the Dollar General store in Bellmead, Bellmead police Detective Michael Miller said.
Miller said at about 6:20 p.m. on July 6 a man walked into the store located in the 4200 block of Bellmead Drive, handed a cashier a note that threatened him and told him not to make any noise.
The clerk told officers a thin man wearing no shoes walked into the store and walked around.
Officers later were able to see the suspect on the store’s surveillance video and he could be seen placing a hat on his head and sandals on his feet.
The suspect then walked into the store manager’s office and handed him a note that said "Don't say nothing please I will kill you,” Miller said.
The robber left the store with an undisclosed amount of money, Miller said.
No one was hurt.
The clerk reported the man had a handgun but none was ever actually seen, Miller said.
A suspect was identified and brought into the police station for questioning and during that interview he admitted to robbing the store, Miller said.
A search warrant was served for a room at Bellmead’s Delta Inn where officers found items believed stolen from the General Dollar at the time of the Robbery.
