BELLMEAD (December 7, 2012)--A Bellmead man who was recently featured on News 10's Wheel of Justice has been arrested, along with another man, in connection with a series of burglaries and other crimes.
Jonathan Dewayne Culp, 29, was in the McLennan County Jail Friday in lieu of bonds totaling $24,000, charged with failing to identify himself as a fugitive, theft of a firearm and burglary of a motor vehicle.
Culp also was held on two warrants out of Tarrant County and without bond on a state parole violation.
The second man, Kevin Michael Bennett, 29, was in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $11,000, charged with forgery and credit card abuse out of Bellmead and burglary of a vehicle and credit card abuse out of Waco.
Bellmead police Detective Michael Miller said officers arrested the two after being sent to a business in response to a report that two men were trying to use what clerks believed was a stolen credit card.
By the time police arrived the men were gone, but shortly afterwards the car they were driving was stopped and they were arrested.
Miller said arresting officers recovered stolen items, checks and credit cards from the car after a search.
