BELTON (January 25, 2013) -- The city of Belton has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
The city will use the money to add recreational and safety features to Nolan Creek as it winds through downtown.
The city is also contributing $100,000 while local businesses H-E-B and CGI each chipped in $50,000.
The city plans meetings in the coming months with the Texas Department of Transportation to develop a final plan for the project, which will add trails, picnic tables, and two acres of open spaces, exercise stations, a horseshoe court.
Phase one will also involve removal of two low water crossings near the Harris Community Center and City Hall.
