BELTON (November 26, 2012)--Belton ISD will continue their discussion on school attendance boundaries Thursday.
The public is invited to attend the meeting which will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Board Room at the Administration Building, located at 400 N. Wall Street.
The board of trustees will discuss the process of realigning boundaries for Belton ISD elementary campuses, due to the opening of two new campuses in the fall of 2013 and 2014.
Concrete has been poured for a third campus.
The new campuses come as student enrollment grows.
There are about 700 more students in the district than in 2010, according to an enrollment report released by the BISD administration.
High Point Elementary is the first school to be constructed off of Highway 317 and is expected to open to students in the fall of next year.
The current Belton Middle School will serve as an extension of Belton High School and Belton Middle School students will be moved to another middle school to be constructed east of Highway 317 on Prairie View Road.
The third school to be constructed, currently referred to as Elementary School #10, will be the main topic to be discussed at Thursday’s meeting.
Currently, two of the new schools are located in the City of Temple and boundaries may need to be redrawn, BISD spokesperson Judy Owens said.
Elementary School #10 and the new middle school are expected to open in the fall of 2014.
All meetings are open to the public.
