BELTON (March 19, 2013)--The Belton Police Department is accepting applications for the annual Youth Police Academy that will be held this summer.
Middle school students from sixth through eighth grade are invited to get a glimpse into the life of a police officer during a one-week program.
Students will get tours of the police, jail and communication center departments, see how police search buildings and conduct traffic stops in a mock environment, as well as learn about defense tactics, SWAT operation, crime scene investigations and narcotic investigations.
The program will also teach children about leadership and team building.
Applications for Belton residents or BISD enrolled students will be available through May 1 on the city’s website.
