BELTON (February 15, 2013) --- Thieves broke into a towing company lot overnight in Belton and stole batteries from several damaged cars.
Goode Towing and Recovery employee Shawn Whitaker said he arrived for work Friday at the business at 4737 South I-35 and found that someone had cut the fence to get onto the lot.
Whitaker said the thieves broke into four cars and stole batteries and attempted to break into a fifth one but couldn't get to the battery because the damage to the hood was so extensive.
The thieves even tried to steal gasoline from one of the cars and left behind a gas can and siphon hose.
The tools the thieves evidently used to make entry into the cars were also left behind.
A Belton police officer was collecting the evidence left behind on Friday morning.
Whitaker said this is the second time someone has cut the fence to their towing yard and made entry.
