BELTON (May 22, 2013)--The Belton Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking “outstanding” parade entries for the Belton Fourth of July Parade.

In 2008, USA Today named Belton as one of the “Top 10 Places to Fly Your Flag on the Fourth.”

Musical entries, tasteful eye-catching displays, group performances and more are encouraged.

“It’s so exciting to see the looks on children’s faces as they are dazzled by horses, elaborate floats, bands and our nation’s bravest men and women,” chamber spokesperson Matthew Irvine said.

More than 30,000 spectators are expected at this year’s parade which will move down Main Street and Central Avenue.

“We love organizing the parade. It reminds us that our freedom is precious and worthy of both celebration and also remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price to provide it,” Irvine said.

Groups and individuals of all ages are encouraged to participate.

This year’s theme is “Symbols of Freedom.”

Participants can register on the chamber of commerce website by June 7.
