BELTON (October 11, 2012)--Belton ISD will hold a public meeting Monday to discuss two new schools that are expected to open in the fall of 2014.
The addition of three schools was approved last May during a bond election.
High Point Elementary is the first school to be constructed off of Highway 317.
Concrete is being poured and the school is expected to open to students in the fall of next year.
Board members will hold a discussion on two other schools including a new middle school.
The current Belton Middle School is expected to serve as an extension of Belton High School.
Belton Middle School students will be moved to another middle school to be constructed east of Highway 317 on Prairie View Road.
The third school to be constructed, referred to as Elementary School #10, will also be among the topics to be discussed.
The location of that school along with the current boundaries of the City of Temple and Belton ISD will be the main topics addressed.
Currently, two of the new schools are located in the City of Temple and eventually, boundaries may need to be redrawn, BISD spokesperson Judy Owens said.
Voting for the location of school #10 could take place at the next board meeting, set for October 22, however, board members will not approve any decisions on Monday.
Both of the newer schools are expected to open in the fall of 2014.
The meeting will be held in the board room at 5 p.m. for anyone interested in attending.
