BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (October 12, 2012)--A ceremony at Bruceville-Eddy Elementary School Saturday will rededicate a World War memorial placed more than 60 years ago and will also dedicate a new “Circle of Veterans” to honor all veterans.

The Ex-Students Association of the Bruceville-Eddy School will host the ceremony which will include a wreath laying.

Widows and children of a WWII veteran who died in 1944 in Normandy and a veteran who died in 2004 in Iraq will be participating in the wreath laying ceremony.

The Eddy Women’s Club raised money for the World War monument following WWII, which was later moved to its current location in front of the elementary school in 1957.

The Ex-Students Association has raised money for repairs of the monument as well as the new “Circle of Veterans.”

Congressman Flores’ representative Andrew Gordon will deliver the congressman’s prepared remarks and Senator Birdwell will present a flag flown over the Texas State Capitol.

Congressman “Doc” Anderson will present a proclamation from the state House of representatives.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Bruceville-Eddy High School cafeteria.

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
