CAMERON (February 5, 2013)—Cameron police issued an advisory Tuesday after receiving a flurry of calls reporting a phone scam in which senior citizens were asked for Social Security numbers and bank account information.
”This is most likely a scam and anyone giving out this information will be risking their bank values and security by talking to these people,” police said in a press release.
“Hang up on these folks immediately,” police said.
The calls appear to be targeting the 697 prefix, police said.
