CAMERON (October 3, 2013)—A 23-year-old Cameron man arrested after a traffic stop Thursday was facing drug charges and an additional arrest is possible, police said.
Jamal Byron Williams of Cameron was arrested after police stopped the 2009 Mazda he was driving at around 2 p.m. Thursday near O.J. Thomas Park.
Williams was named in outstanding misdemeanor warrants and based on the results of an investigation was facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance in a drug free school zone.
More than four grams of suspected crack cocaine was recovered during the stop, police said.
Williams was taken to the Milam County Jail.
Additional charges are possible, police said, and a second person is under investigation in connection with the incident.
State troopers and Milam County sheriff’s deputies assisted officers at the scene of the stop after a large crowd gathered, police said.
