CAMERON (January 15, 2013)--In a special meeting Monday, Cameron City Council approved contracts totaling more than $700,000 in water improvement projects.

Texas-based company WWater Tech, Inc. will assist the city with a new water filter plant while a construction crew in the Bryan-College Station area will make improvements to surface water storage tanks.

The city water system collected 6 samples of water in October that contained coliform bacteria, bacteria that is naturally present and used as an indicator that other potentially harmful bacteria may be present.

Officials hope that improvements to the water system will alleviate some of the bacteria concerns.
