CAMERON (March 20, 2013)--A walk-a-thon fundraiser is being held for local boxer Ryan Karl who is headed to the 2013 USA Boxing National Championships in Washington.

A member of the nonprofit group Cowboy Boxing Club, Karl will head to Spokane for a nine-day tournament at the end of the month.

A walk-a-thon fundraiser is being held at Wilson-Ledbetter Park at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by a barbeque plate fundraiser.

Walkers are asked to find sponsors and a goal of $100 has been set to be raised by each walker.

Karl's trip is estimated to cost $3,500.

Brisket, chicken or sausage plates will be sold for $7 and include beans, potato salad, bread and a drink.

Serving begins at 11:30 a.m. at the boxing club at 212 W. 1st Street and food is provided by Jake & Boo’s Backdoor Grill in Rosebud.

Delivery of at least 10 plates is provided within Cameron city limits.
