COPPERAS COVE (August 1, 2012) --Copperas Cove police are investigating a fire that broke out Tuesday as an arson and said Wednesday that a 10-year-old girl was taken to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center after firefighters put out the flames.
A neighbor said he called 911 at around 6 p.m. Tuesday after his children told him a fire had been started in a shed on a vacant lot near his home in the 2900 block of Lazy Lane in Copperas Cove.
Several houses and a business surround the area.
The Copperas Cove Fire Department handed the arson investigation over to the police department.
Cove police spokesman Kevin Keller said Wednesday the investigation is ongoing.
