COPPERAS COVE (April 24, 2013)—Copperas Cove police arrested a wanted man late Tuesday morning after a chase, a search, a second chase and a brief standoff.
Officers pursued the man on foot late Tuesday morning after spotting him in the 200 block of Northern Dove Lane.
The man escaped into a densely wooded area where he was able to hide, police said.
Dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice joined the search and found the man’s trail.
A second chase ensued that ended when the man ran into a home in the 40 block of Cactus Drive, which was occupied by two adults and three children.
After officers were unable to get anyone inside the home to respond, negotiators were sent to the scene and arranged the release of the two adults and the children.
Members of the Copperas Cove SWAT team then entered the home and arrested the man.
No injuries were reported.
Raheem Amaud Townsend was wanted on a warrant charging aggravated robbery.
He was ordered held Wednesday in lieu of $110,000 bond.
