COPPERAS COVE (December 16, 2013) Copperas Cove police have made one arrest in the theft of a donation jar for a memorial to a late local musician, continued to look Monday for a second man named in an arrest warrant, and were in the process of obtaining a warrant for the arrest of a third man.
The money in the jar stolen a month ago from the counter of a Copperas Cove convenience store was to have been used to assist with funeral expenses for Malcolm Williams, 34, who died of a medical condition.
The three men walked into the store, asked for cigars, and then grabbed the jar when the clerk turned away.
The theft was recorded by the store’s security camera.
Mitchell Alan Martin was arrested last Thursday in connection with the theft.
Timothy Sedric Martin Blackwell remained at large Monday.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about Blackwell’s whereabouts to call Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers at (254) 547-1111.
