COPPERAS COVE (January 28, 2013)--Development is continuing at the Five Hills Shopping Complex.
The development is coming together in phases and will ultimately include 125 acres at the intersection of US 190 and the south bypass in Copperas Cove.
A traffic light was recently installed at the entrance of the development on Robert Griffin III Blvd. and Hwy. 190 and is expected to be running later this week.
A Whataburger and H-E-B grocery store have been confirmed at the complex, while an eight building, gated apartment complex has been one of the most recent proposals for the site.
The H-E-B will feature a tortilleria as well as a do-it-yourself department.
Early estimates show the new store to employ around 270 people, while the current H-E-B store in the city employs 170.
Early estimated costs show the first phase at roughly $50 million for the development of 72 acres.
H-E-B will be the first store to open.
The store opens to the public Friday.
