COPPERAS COVE (October 2, 2012)-A blood drive will be held on Wednesday to benefit a Copperas Cove ISD elementary student who is fighting a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Alyssa Ranard is a 10-year-old fifth grader at Martin Walker Elementary School who has been battling Metastatic Multifocal Osteosarcoma since June.
Metastatic Multifocal Osteosarcoma is a type of cancer that attacks the bones and can be difficult to treat.
According Alyssa's mom, her daughter is on her second round of chemotherapy and is currently stable at Scott & White Children's Hospital in Temple, but is in desperate need of type O negative blood.
A blood drive will take place on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Martin Walker Elementary School, located at 100 FM 3046.
Scott & White says they will accept all blood types in Alyssa's honor.
