COPPERAS COVE (January 4, 2013)--The Copperas Cove Independent School District is recognizing 7 board members during School Board Appreciation Month in January.
Board members are local volunteers elected by their constituents to help find ways to improve education in schools.
The board is responsible for an annual budget of $77 million, along with more than 8,000 students, 1,300 employees and 11 campuses, Copperas Cove ISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Burns said.
Board members being recognized include President Joan Manning (17 years of service), Vice President Bob Weiss (9 years), Secretary Inez Faison (5 years), Jim Copeland (13 years), Mike Wilburn (5 years), Doug Cook (2 ½ years) and Dr. Karen Harrison (1 ½ years).
The next board meeting is January 15.
