COPPERAS COVE (February 19, 2013) ---Joshua Jillson, 28, was in the Coryell County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $308,000 bond charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest in connection with a robbery on Valentine’s Day.
Jillson was booked into jail on Saturday after Copperas Cove Police took him into custody following a short foot chase in the area of the 900 block of Traci Drive.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, investigators used security video and witness statements to determine that a man, later identified as Jillson, and a woman, later identified as Jessica Blechinger, went into the Dollar General at Cove Terrace on last Thursday and robbed the store at knifepoint.
Officers found the knife in the store and later found Blechinger hiding behind an air conditioning unit at the rear of Robertson Avenue Baptist Church, an affidavit said.
A wad of cash was found lying on the ground next to the woman, the affidavit said.
The affidavit says Blechinger told officers that a male named "Lance" was with her at the Dollar General and that she was homeless and was staying in a tent behind the Copperas Cove City Park.
Officers found a man near the park who said Blechinger had been staying with her boyfriend named "Joshua" in a tent, the affidavit said.
The affidavit says officers then located the tent and several items, including photographs that belonged to Blechinger and Jillson.
A search in an indexing system that keeps track of information pertaining to suspects, incidents and booking and incarceration records displayed photos that matched a physical description of the man officers were looking for.
On Friday, a day after the robbery, officers went back to the tent.
They didn’t find Jillson there, but were given information he may be staying on North 1st Street, the affidavit said.
The affidavit says officers went to the area in the 1100 block of North 1st Street and saw a man fleeing from the back of an abandoned mobile home.
After a short foot chase the man was found in the 900 block of Traci Drive and taken into custody.
He showed officers a Texas Identification card with the name Joshua Jillson on it.
The affidavit says Jillson told officers he and Blechinger went to the Dollar General store because they were cold, wet, and hungry and he admitted to pulling a knife out and asking for cash from the register.
Jillson said he hid on the rooftop of the Cove Terrace Building and watched police after the robbery occurred, the affidavit said.
