GATESVILLE (August 6, 2012)—Coryell County commissioners voted Monday to institute a ban on outdoor burning effective immediately.
The ban is effective for 90 days unless officials decide to rescind it earlier in the event conditions improve.
Violators could be fined as much as $500.
Soaring temperatures and a lack of rain have heightened the risk of wildfires in the county and around most of Central Texas.
