CORYELL COUNTY: (March 6, 2013)--The Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District is asking people with private wells to cut back on their water usage.
The GCD declared a drought under phase 1 last week.
"Phase 1 is based upon deficit in rainfall," GCD General Manager Joe Cooper said.
"If the deficit is approximately more than 20 percent for 30 days, Phase 1 is declared," Cooper said.
Phase 2 may be declared at the end of March if the deficit remains the same.
The cutbacks will remain voluntarily if this happens and will only affect those with private wells.
