Bellmead: Council Moves To Add More Stop Signs To Local Intersection

BELLMEAD (February 12, 2013)--In a long city council meeting Tuesday night, the Bellmead City Council voted to install stop signs at an intersection that residents say is unsafe.

Speeding drivers, bumpy roads, and no shoulders make for a dangerous journey down at least one Bellmead road.

Residents in the area say they look forward to the city adding the new signs to the existing two signs at the Concord and Cloverleaf Roads intersection to make it a safer four way stop.

A resident News 10 spoke with, who lives on one of the corners at that intersection says, she's had vehicles and even a boat wreck in her yard as a result of accidents.

According to the Bellmead Police Department , there have been a number of accidents in that area.

Officials hope drivers will slow down and obey the 30 mph speed limit and also stop at these signs. Once the signs go up, police will give drivers a short while to get use to the change before handing out tickets.

Traffic on Cloverleaf Road is often heavy with students and workers traveling to and from TSTC and L-3.
