(March 8, 2013)--Ford pickup trucks steal the top spot in a new report released by the Texas Department of Transportation for the most stolen vehicles of 2012.
The MVT19 report is compiled monthly by DPS and represents vehicle theft data entered into the Texas Crime Information Center system by Texas law enforcement agencies.
The top ten stolen vehicles are Ford pickups, Chevrolet pickups, Dodge pickups, Hinda Civics, Chevrolet Tahoes, Honda Accords, GMC Pickups, Chevrolet Impalas, Toyota Camrys, and Ford Taurus vehicles, respectively.
Common reasons they are stolen include stripping them for parts, to resell them and for joyriding.
To prevent a theft, drivers are encouraged to lock all doors and hide valuable items from view.
