EDDY (March 1, 2013)--An Eddy man has pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and was set for sentencing.

Federal District Judge Walter S. Smith, Jr., set Michael Rene Garza for sentencing on April 24.

An affidavit submitted at Garza's plea hearing shows on Dec. 7, 2012, officers of the Temple police Special Investigation Unit were conducting surveillance at a residence on Eagle Drive, across the street from Bruceville-Eddy Junior High School.

Subsequent to evidence gathered during the surveillance, agents were able to obtain a search warrant for the house and when the property was searched, officers found a plastic baggie that contained a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police also found other narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia in a storage shed.
