A pickup truck burst into flames Friday afternoon on Interstate 35 near Elm Mott and traffic was diverted as crews extinguished the fire.

ELM MOTT (November 30, 2012)--A pickup truck burst into flames Friday afternoon on Interstate 35 near Elm Mott and traffic was diverted while crews doused the smoky blaze.

Department of Public Safety trooper D.L. Wilson said troopers at the scene reported that the truck appeared to be a construction vehicle that was in the construction area between Elm Mott and West.

Wilson said thick clouds of black smoke could be seen for miles south of the accident site.

There was no word if anyone was injured.

A News 10 reporter at the scene at mile marker 346 said firefighters had the fire under control by about 2 p.m.
