Waco: Fire Damages Local Home

WACO (January 9, 2013)- The Waco Fire Department is investigating the cause of house fire that started after 7 p.m. Tonight at the 700 block of S. 18th Street in Waco.

Initial reports said a woman was trapped in the home, but when first responders arrived on the scene, an elderly woman was found on the back porch of the house.

Two people were inside the home when the fire started but were able to safely escape.

Residents reported hearing a small explosion in the front of the house where firefighters say the fire started.

Another small explosion was heard by residents after the fire started in the back of the home.

Officials said EMS crews did examine the elderly woman on the scene as a precaution.
