Fort Hood: Man Arrested After On-Post Attack Jailed

A federal court hearing is set next week for a man arrested after a  woman was beaten with a wooden paddle at a residence on Fort Hood.

FORT HOOD (October 11, 2012)--A man has been ordered held in the McLennan County Jail after an initial appearance in federal magistrate's court on a charge of assault stemming from an incident reported on Fort Hood.

Federal Magistrate Jeffrey C. Manske ordered Sean Edward Armstrong to appear on Oct. 18 for a detention hearing.

Manske also appointed an attorney for Armstrong.

Armstrong is held without bond in the McLennan County Jail on a federal detainer, charged with assault.

A federal arrest affidavit says at around 8:20 a.m. on Oct. 8, Armstrong was staying at a residence on Fort Hood with his girlfriend, visiting members of her family when the two got into an argument.

The affidavit says Armstrong took the girlfriend upstairs, threw her into a bedroom and began pulling her hair.

Then, the affidavit says, the fight escalated and Armstrong began beating the woman with a wooden paddle, which left marks on her body.

The assault was interrupted when the resident and his wife came into the bedroom and Armstrong fled.

Armstrong later was arrested by military police.
