FORT HOOD (August 16, 2013)--Most Department of Defense civilian employee furloughs will have ended by Monday, a news release issued Friday by DOD says.

In fact, a majority of the furloughs will have been completed by Friday, but a few remaining employees will not have completed the program until Monday, said Andy Bird, Fort Hood deputy garrison commander.

Fort Hood installation support activities and organizations will return to normal schedules and activity, at the completion of the furlough period, the DOD release said.

"Fort Hood expects to be at 97 percent capability to provide services and support to the Fort Hood community with the end of the furlough on Monday," Bird said.

"The remaining 3 percent is spread out over various departments across post as newly hired employees, since July 8, must still meet the mandated furlough hours prior to Sept. 30, but they will have minimal impact on services," Bird said.
