FORT HOOD (September 13, 2012) --- A day at work for some soldiers meant jumping out of a helicopter on Thursday.
About a dozen soldiers in the 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade went through parachute training Thursday at Fort Hood.
They took the plunge and jumped out of Black Hawk helicopters, and will continue to train to become certified in this field to train other soldiers in these operations.
The exercise focused on sharpening airborne operations skills.
"We're just coming off of a year long tour in Afghanistan and we need to make sure that our jump masters with our squadron are currently up to date with their duties, then we can start conducting regular airborne operations," Capt. James Stall said.
Soldiers who went through the training will receive special certification in the field.
