FORT HOOD (December 13, 2013) The Department of Defense Friday identified five units scheduled to deploy as part of an upcoming rotation of forces operating in Afghanistan.
The units include Fort Hood’s 3rd Cavalry Regiment and 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters, a total of about 2,400 troops.
The units will deploy in the spring of 2014, the Defense Department said.
Also scheduled to deploy as part of the rotation are the 82nd Airborne Division’s 1st Brigade from Fort Bragg. N.C.; the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade from Ansbach, Germany.
