FORT HOOD (April 2, 2013)—A Texas congressman will be at Fort Hood Thursday for the III Corps color-casing ceremony.

At 10 a.m. at the parade field in front of the III Corps building, soldiers will be getting ready for their deployment to Afghanistan.

A total of 500 soldiers will deploy and some soldiers have already been sent off.

The unit will deploy for one year where the command will be in charge of the International Support Assistance Force Joint Command Headquarters in Kabul.

Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) will be in attendance along with III Corps commander Lt. Gen. Mark Milley and III Corps' Command Sgt. Maj. Scott Schroeder.

Children ages 10 and younger who have a parent deploying will be given a daddy or mommy doll to remember their loved one.
