FORT HOOD (November 27, 2012)--A recent recall of atorvastatin medication is not applicable to medication purchased on post, a Fort Hood spokesperson said.
Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. is recalling more than 40 lots of atorvastatin pills, the generic version of the popular statin Lipitor that works to lower cholesterol.
The recall is for possible glass contamination and while Fort Hood pharmacies say they are not affected by the recall, nor are Community Based Medical Homes, residents are urged to contact their pharmacists to ensure that medications received off post are safe to consume.
