FORT HOOD (December 20, 2012)—A Medal of Honor recipient and former Army staff sergeant will visit Fort Hood on Friday.
Sal Giunta is the first living person to receive the medal during the Global War on Terror.
He was presented the award by President Barack Obama in November 2010 for his actions in Afghanistan against the enemy and for saving lives.
Giunta will be autographing his book, “Living with Honor” that highlights his life before and after the Army. He also describes his experiences in the Army and what soldiers are faced with during difficult deployments.
Giunta says he wrote the book to highlight the valiant men he served with.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. and last for about two hours at the Clear Creek Main Exchange.
