Fort Hood: Military Retirees To Get Recognized This Weekend

FORT HOOD (October 24, 2012)--Military retirees from across Central Texas will get recognized this weekend during Friday and Saturday’s 38th annual Retiree Appreciation Day.

A Retiree Golf Tournament will get underway Friday with the monthly retirement ceremony to be held at 4 p.m. at the III Corps flag pole.

A “Breakfast for Dinner” meal at the Phantom Warrior Center is open to the first 300 people to sign up.

The meal will be served at 7 p.m. at the Phantom Warrior Center.

Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Old Timer’s Breakfast will be served at Club Hood followed by an opening ceremony at 9 a.m.

Army Surgeon General Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho will be the featured speaker.

Retirees will also have an opportunity throughout the event to get immunizations, identification cards, legal services and take part in a health fair at the Thomas Moore Clinic.

The seasonal flu vaccine will be available.

More than 129,000 retirees received a complete agenda in the mail, a spokesperson said.
