(January 30, 2013)--IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer free pancakes to guests Tuesday while accepting donations for Shriners Hospitals.
Tuesday is National Pancake Day and to celebrate, guests can enjoy a complimentary stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to help reach the restaurant chain’s goal of raising $3 million.
According to the restaurant, Pancake Day began when the English prepared for fasting during Lent; dairy products could not be eaten so pancakes were created to help use up the prohibited ingredients.
