GATESVILLE (September 9, 2013)--A local man was held Monday in the Coryell County Jail charged in the January sexual assault of a Gatesville woman.
Noah Clayton Askew, 33, was held in lieu of $20,000 bond on a sexual assault charge, online records showed.
Gatesville police Chief Nathan Gholke said officers were sent on Jan. 31 to a residence in the 200 block of State School Road where a 22-year-old woman told them she had been sexually assaulted.
The woman identified her attacker as someone she knew.
The victim was taken to a medical facility where a sexual assault examination was performed and the results of that exam were later sent to the Department of Public Safety crime lab in Austin for analysis.
On August 26 a reported issued to Gatesville police from the crime lab identified a suspect through DNA analysis.
Askew, after he learned a warrant had been issued for his arrest, turned himself into Gatesville police and was booked into the Coryell County Jail where he remained Monday.
