GATESVILLE (May 3, 2013)--The Grace Assembly Christian Church is partnering with the Scott & White Blood Center to host a blood drive for victims of the West explosion from 12-4 p.m.Tuesday.
"One reason we wanted to do this is because our pastor is from West and still has family there that was affected by the explosion," Grace Assembly Christian Church member Brenda Stewart said. "We wanted to find something we could do to help."
The blood drive will take place in 15 minute intervals, drawing blood from three people per interval, allowing approximately 60 people to participate in the four hours, Stewart said.
"When the explosion first happened, they couldn't take anymore blood and had to turn people away, but Scott & White recommended we do one in May," Stewart said.
Those wanting to participate will need to fill out a form prior to the event and may do so by contacting Stewart by Sunday.
"All I need to sign people up is their date of birth and a phone number," Stewart explained. In order to participate, you need to be 17 years of age and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.
A photo ID must be showed on the day of the drive.
The blood drive will be held at the church at 1408 Waco Street. For more information call (254) 223-4037.
