GATESVILLE (December 3, 2012)--A Gatesville couple has been selected as the winner for this year’s Excellence in Agriculture contest held by Texas Farm Bureau.
Ryan Bay, 28, and Santanna Bay, 27, were one of three finalists for the honor which recognizes young men and women who are involved in agriculture but do not earn their primary income from a farm or ranch enterprise.
The winning couple owns and operates Coryell Feed and Supply in Gatesville and assist people with basic animal health issues. They also maintain a small herd of cattle and a pecan orchard.
The Bays have one son, Greyson.
Other finalists were from Florence and Plainview.
The winner was announced at the TFB annual meeting in Waco over the weekend.
The winner will receive a $5,000 cash award from Farm Credit, an Arctic Cat 500 4X4 provided by Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company and a plaque and belt buckle representative of the award.
They will also receive an expense-paid trip to represent Texas at the national competition in Nashville in January.
Runners-up received a pair of Justin Boots and a $200 power tool, courtesy of Grainger.
