GROESBECK (July 26, 2012)-A Groesbeck man was indicted Wednesday by a McLennan County Grand Jury for multiple counts of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.
Aurelio P. Ibarra, 54, was named in indictments charging two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child.
Ibarra was arrested on a Waco police warrant by U.S. Customs agents May 22 near the Mexican border, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Ibarra was released from the McLennan County Jail on June 20 after posting a $30,000 bond.
Police began searching for Ibarra after a young girl reported she had been continuously sexually abused by a family acquaintance.
Swanton said the abuse happened at a residence in Groesbeck.
The victim moved to Waco, where she made an outcry, he said.
Texas law allows adjacent agencies to investigate reports of certain crimes, even when they did not happen within the agency's jurisdiction, and sexual assault or abuse of a child is among those crimes.
