HARKER HEIGHTS (December 7, 2012)--A man was arrested Friday on three counts of arson stemming from an investigation of a series of house fires in the East Ball neighborhood in August.
Michael Saley, 41, of Colorado, was believed to have been hired to perform demolition work on the houses that caught fire, a spokesman for the Harker Heights Fire Department said.
In August of this year, at least two house fires were reported on East Ball Road believed by investigators to have been arson.
In at least one of the fires, residents in two adjacent homes were evacuated as firefighters first doused flames that had spread to a house next door, then turned their attention to the source of the fire at a vacant house.
The Harker Heights Fire Marshal's Office investigated the incidents with assistance from fire marshal's offices in Temple, Killeen and from ATF.
Saley was arrested at a Killeen residence on Dimple Street and is currently in the Bell County Jail.
His bond had not been set Friday afternoon.
