HEWITT (February 27, 2013)-A police chase at around 4 p.m. Wednesday along Hewitt Drive ended in the teacher's parking lot of Midway Middle School, where officers arrested two people, a Midway ISD spokesperson said.

Hewitt police arrested Thomas Walter Parnell, 20, and Jacob Gutierrez, 19, on separate charges and both were listed Thursday on the McLennan County Jail log.

Parnell was ordered held on a $5,000 bond charged with burglary of a building on a Beverly Hills police warrant.

Gutierrez was ordered held on a $5,000 bond charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Hewitt police stopped the pair after a resident reported a possible residential burglary in the area and described the vehicle the two were in.

The traffic stop resulted in a short chase but officers had the vehicle stopped quickly.

Track practice was underway at the time and students were moved to the far side of the stadium as a precaution.

Practice resumed after the incident
