HEWITT (January 1, 2013)--The City of Hewitt is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for “Adventure Playground” Friday.
The newly completed playground was designed to bring together children of all ages and abilities with a variety of play elements.
City staff worked with local elementary schools to receive feedback on play features most enjoyable to children.
Meanwhile, The Hewitt Parks and Beautification Committee teamed up with adults with children with disabilities to determine how the whole community could participate.
The Kiwanis Club of Waco, Inc. provided financial support in memory of Chuck Slough.
The new playground is located at Hewitt Park on Hewitt Drive and includes a signature red shade seen from the street.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with the Boy Scouts from Troop 377 to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
A commemorative “I was there first” flying disc will be available for the first 250 people in attendance.
