HILL COUNTY (March 11, 2013)--Twenty years after commencing service as a judge, 66th District Court Judge Bob McGregor, Jr. announced he will not seek re-election to a sixth term.

McGregor was appointed to his post in 1993 by Governor Ann Richards.

The decision stems from personal reasons, McGregor wrote in a letter to the public.

In the letter McGregor said he plans to serve out his term which expires next December and that he will “evaluate the opportunity to assume senior judge status.”

"It has been one of the great privileges of my life to have been in service here; to work with the outstanding attorneys who have appeared before the 66th District Court over these past 20 years, as well as the staff of the court, past and present, has been a professional and personal honor," the judge wrote.
