HILLSBORO (June 20, 2013)--Parents of students at Hillsboro Junior High School will soon have new pavement to drive on and a special area to pick up and drop off their children after school district board members approved to reconstruct the school's parking area.
The parking area was lost when the old gym was torn down, Superintendent Buck Gilcrease said.
The parking area will be west of the main building and will connect from Church Street to Walnut Street for student drop off and pick up.
The initial cost for construction is around $89,000 for 22,000 square feet but could go up if additional areas get paved.
Parents will receive maps once road construction is complete, Gilcrease said.
The district hopes the changes will prevent unnecessary congestion at the school and better accommodate student growth.
