KEMPNER (March 5, 2013)--A small lot, less than half an acre, will be purchased by the city after city council members voted to acquire it.
The lot is situated just down the street form city hall near the intersection of Hwy. 190 and Bill Brown Street.
Although the lot was valued at more, the city will pay no more than $35,000 to purchase it.
How the lot will be used is still in question but city officials say it could be used for additional city services or to house a new business off the highway, serving as a boost to the city’s economy.
The purchase is expected to be finalized in April.
